Located in the heart of El Paso’s historic Rio Grande District, the International Museum of Art is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting and encouraging the visual arts through local, regional, national, and international exhibitions, educational programs, lectures, gallery talks, guided tours, and community events. The museum serves as an important cultural destination for residents and visitors alike while providing opportunities for artists and art enthusiasts of all ages.

Preserving El Paso’s History Through Art

The International Museum of Art is housed inside the historic Turney Mansion, a beautiful Victorian-style home designed by renowned architect Henry C. Trost and completed in 1909. The home belonged to Texas State Senator William W. Turney and his wife, Iva Turney, who later donated the property to the City of El Paso with the hope that it would always be used to support the arts. Today, that vision continues through the museum’s exhibitions, educational programming, and community outreach.

More than a museum, the International Museum of Art represents an important part of El Paso’s history, preserving both the city’s architectural heritage and its vibrant artistic community.
